ONE HEALTH, ONE SOLUTION: Bacteriophages Against AMR

Date: January 17, 2026
Location: Department of Biological Sciences, BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus, Goa, India

Introduction

The Department of Biological Sciences at BITS Pilani, K.K. Birla Goa Campus, is pleased to announce an international conference on a topic of critical global importance:
"ONE HEALTH, ONE SOLUTION: Bacteriophages Against AMR."
This one-day event will serve as a dynamic forum for scientists, researchers, clinicians, regulatory professionals, and industry stakeholders to collaborate on innovative solutions to one of the most pressing public health crises of our time—Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).

Conference Scope

Antimicrobial Resistance is a growing threat that transcends human health, impacting animals, agriculture, and the environment. Aligned with the One Health philosophy, this conference emphasizes the interconnectedness of ecosystems and the urgent need for integrative solutions.

The focus of the event will be on bacteriophages—viruses that target and destroy specific bacteria—as promising, sustainable alternatives to antibiotics. The scientific program will cover a wide range of topics including:

  • Phage discovery and characterization

  • Clinical applications of bacteriophage therapy

  • Regulatory frameworks and translational research

  • Environmental and veterinary uses of phages

  • AMR surveillance and intervention strategies

Theme

Emerging Biotechnological Solutions Against AMR

This year’s theme highlights cutting-edge innovations in biotechnology that offer promising alternatives to conventional antimicrobials. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the conference aims to advance both scientific knowledge and real-world applications in the fight against AMR.
